How can I avoid an update to Windows 10?

If you are a genuine user of Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 you must have noticed that every time you are using the PC there is a small window popups and force you to update your current using Windows to Windows 10. Not everyone likes to use Windows 10. So for the ones who doesn’t like to update to Windows 10, here I am going to show you how to avoid and get rid of the Windows 10 update. According to Microsoft website (Microsoft, 2016)

Here are some of the steps to block the Windows 10 updates using system configurations.

Step 1: Go to Computer Configurations.

Step 2: Select Policies.

Step 3: Select Administrative Templates.

Step 4: Go to Windows Component.

Step 5: Click Windows Update.

Step 6: Select Turn off the upgrade to the latest version of Windows through Windows Update.

Step 7: Select Enable.

If you are using Windows Home and Windows Professional editions here is another way of how to block the Windows 10 update.

Step 1: Go to the Control Panel in your operating system.

Step 2: Go to Administration Tools.

Step 3: Double click on the Services.

Step 4: Then locate the Windows Update service and select it.

Step 5: Select Stop.

(If you do like this way it will only applies to the local session. But follow the rest of the steps if you are willing to avoid the Windows update permanently)

Step 6: Click the drop down box of Startup Types.

Step 7: Make it Disable and restart your PC.  

(If you want to reactivate the Windows updates, you need to come to the same section and make the startup type as Automatic Delayed Start, Apply it and then click Start)
